International Building Code Section 1705.17 mandates third-party special inspections for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing penetrations plus fire-resistive joint systems. We are one of the few agencies that has been doing this since before it was code-required.

Our Inspection Scope – Exactly What the Code and ASTM Demand

  • Witness minimum 10% of installations per ASTM E2174
  • Witness minimum 5% of installations per ASTM E2393
  • Destructive examination of minimum 2% of each penetration type (E2174) and 1 per 500 linear feet of joints (E2393)
  • Full photo documentation with UL/Intertek system numbers, annular space, backing, and top-coat depth
  • Detailed deficiency reports with exact code citations and required remediation
  • Final sign-off letter accepted by every AHJ we’ve ever worked with
